Here’s a brief video featuring Darren Scarlett and his fantastic Van’s RV-7 homebuilt aircraft. It’s an extremely capable airplane that gives great performance and an incredible amount of fun. Darren flies it every chance he can.
This video was shot on location at and near Chestermere-Kirkby Field, near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was shot over a period of about 4 months because it took that long to find both the right times and the right weather conditions for shooting over the winter of 2011/2012.
I used a Canon Vixia HF S30 camcorder, and a Drift HD170 Stealth action cam. These are both excellent cameras. I used a monopod to support the Canon for steadiness during the air-to-air shots from inside my own airplane. I love my Canon camera, which has so many high quality features and capabilities. The Drift is excellent, too, and it has so many mounting options PLUS a rotatable lens, which a lot of the other action cameras don’t have.
Darren and I hope you enjoy the video.
